L'Arc de Triomphe Wrapped, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, 2021

LIVE VIEW OF L'ARC DE TRIOMPHE, WRAPPED (2021)

A live stream of this temporary installation in Paris, which is the posthumous work of the artist Christo, who passed away last year, and his partner and wife, who died in 2009.  The work was conceived by Christo in the early 1960′s, through drawings and collages: “It will be like a living object which will move in the wind and reflect the light. With its moving folds, the monument’s surface will become sensual. People will want to touch the Arc de Triomphe.” The project was funded entirely by proceeds from sale of the couple’s art, and follows numerous large scale works in which they wrapped or adorned urban and rural landscapes, including Running Fence, about which the Maysles Brothers made a documentary. The installation (and live stream) runs until October 3, Photo © Jared Chulski, via arcdaily.
